With all the airiness and light you expect from a Nauticat, Free Lady is a great place to be in all weathers. Split levels and clever design give the benefits of open-plan living while ensuring all the spaces are differentiated. There’s also plenty of headroom, so even 6 footers can stand up comfortably everywhere in the boat. The interior is beautifully crafted from hand finished varnished teak throughout and fully upholstered in Alcantara.
Upper Saloon
Free Lady is a boat built for entertaining as well as sailing, and the spacious saloon area is ideal for dinner parties. It seats six comfortably, and even has a built in 12 bottle wine rack! 360 degree views through the pilothouse windows make it a comfortable place to sit in bad weather, and the 12V entertainment system means there’s no need to miss your favourite TV programmes just because you’re underway. The seats hide copious amounts of easy-access storage space and also double as a safe single sea berth with lee cloth. For even more space, drop the table and you have a double berth where even your tallest friends can stretch out for a comfortable night’s sleep. All the hatches and windows have tinted UV filters – great when the sun gets too much - ensuring that the saloon keeps cool on those long summer days.
Interior Helm and Navigation Centre
Sit at the incredibly spacious and well-equipped nav centre and you will find extensive navigation, engine and generator instrumentation. The height adjustable chair can be securely fixed to the floor while at sea. Here you have a comfortable indoor helming position with autopilot and engine controls. The radar and chartplotter are easily visible from the cockpit, where most of the other instruments are repeated. You will also find two desk lights and 12V, British and continental-style power points. Four drawers and three cupboards provide ample storage for ship’s papers etc, as well as all the manuals for the on board equipment. Move aft, and you will find two huge hanging lockers for bolt cutters, tools, and life jackets. There’s even central heating vents to keep your foul weather gear warm and dry. Next to them, there is more storage for tools and spares under the steps down to the aft stateroom.
Lower Saloon
Move downstairs and forward, and the lower saloon is to starboard. The adjustable pedestal table makes an ideal breakfast area, or additional galley workspace. There’s more storage all round here too, under the seats, steps and in cupboards and cubby holes, including a freezer or - even better - drinks fridge. The bookshelves above the seats provide ample room for all your cookery books and pilot guides. Again, this area can be quickly converted to a double berth for guests.
Galley
Step into the light and airy galley and it will come as no surprise that Free Lady was originally owned and designed by a woman. Its ‘L’ shape means that everything is in easy reach, making catering a doddle, even underway. Custom-made glass and crockery storage ensures that your dinner service stays safe at sea, and the galley straps make sure the cook does too! The custom-designed knife block in the corner means you don’t lose your fingers hunting in drawers. There is plenty of food storage in five cupboards, another six cupboards and drawers for pots and pans, and the split-level fridge swallows a week’s shopping with plenty of room for more.
